Speaker 1: Professor Sheila Shaibu (Professor & Program Lead MSc Nursing, Aga Khan University, Nairobi)

Dr Sheila Shaibu is a registered nurse and a lecturer in the Department of Nursing Education at the University of Botswana. She obtained a diploma in general nursing and operating theatre technique from Mpilo General Hospital, Bulawayo; a B.Ed in Nursing from the University of Botswana; and an MSc and PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. Her areas of specialisation are Community Health Nursing and Nursing Administration. She has published in refereed journals and book chapters and recently collaborated on a WHO multi-country study on Integrated Health Care Responses to rapid population ageing.

Speaker 2: Dr Mark Hayter (Head of Nursing, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK)

Mark is Head of Nursing at Manchester Metropolitan University UK and is the Editor-in- Chief of the Journal of Clinical Nursing (2021-present) and previously edited the Journal of Advanced Nursing (2013-2020). He holds Visiting Professorial appointments at the University of Genoa, Italy, Yangzhou University, China and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mark is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (Faculty of Nursing), a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, and a 2021 inductee into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. Mark has published over 180 scholarly papers: with a Scopus h-index of 27, a Clarivate h-index of 27 and a Google Scholar h-index of 39.

Speaker 3: Dr Sam Matula (Senior Lecturer, University of Botswana)

Dr Samuel Matula is a Senior Lecturer and an early career researcher at the University of Botswana, School of Nursing in Gaborone, Botswana. Dr Matula is a pediatric clinical nurse specialist and a Registered Nurse in Botswana. He completed his masters and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. During the school, he appreciated how impactful research was important in improving patient outcomes and nursing processes. Post School, relocated back to his home country where he currently teaches child and adolescent health nursing courses at both graduate and undergraduate students and supervisor graduate students research at the University of Botswana. He is passionate about care of children and adolescent particularly improving their care in Botswana to improve their outcomes. His research focuses on symptom management with his dissertation focused on pediatric pain management practices in Botswana. Dr Matula started publishing extensively in diverse nursing journals and serve as reviewer for several journals. Dr Matula is currently working on several projects which will contribute immensely to his academic career through ethical and quality publications.

He champions the needs and aspirations of editors, reviewers and authors within journal editorial and peer review processes, advising and speaking on research integrity, publishing ethics, diversity, equity and inclusion, and researcher behaviour.
